Orthodontics

Orthodontic correction of teeth is one of the oldest and most popular dental therapies to be carried out. Braces have also evolved from fixed metal braces to transparent removable or rather invisible braces for both adolescents and adults.

Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics are a branch of dentistry that can be broadly classified into, child and adult orthodontics. Thus, the correction of dental and facial irregularities i.e. Orthodontia is for all ages.

Orthodontic treatment can be either two-phase or a single-phase treatment, depending on the age of the patient. The first orthodontic consultation should be at the age of 7 years for every child, so as to benefit both therapeutically and aesthetically from the two-phase growth modulation/modifying appliances.

What is the two-phase orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatment that is divided into interceptive and corrective phase.

Interceptive orthodontics basically, takes advantage of the growth period of a child and helps intercept a full-blown malalignment of the jaws and teeth.

Growth modification (myo-functional) removable devices are used which drastically reduce the duration of fixed braces in the second phase help to prevent removal of multiple teeth or surgery in later years.

What is one phase orthodontic treatment?

This type of braces treatment is done for patients, in whom the growth period is over. This may or may not require removal of teeth, depending on the individual case.

This can be done with either fixed (metal/ceramic) braces or removable clear aligners (Invisalign).

How will I know if I need braces?

  • Spacing/ gaps in between teeth

    • Crooked/ irregularly aligned teeth

    • Deep bite (lower teeth not visible on smiling)

    • Open bite (gap between upper n lower teeth on biting)

    • Reverse bite (lower teeth ahead of upper teeth)

    • Jaw pain (Temporo Mandibular joint disorder)

    • Unpleasant smile

If you said a yes to any one of these, see an orthodontist

Types of Braces

Invisible or Clear Braces
ree

Ceramic braces can be either self-ligating or non-SL. These brackets are translucent, tooth colored. Wires are also tooth colored, thus making these, one of the preferred choices of aesthetic braces treatment in both kids and adults.

Invisalign / Clear Aligner Therapy

This is the most cosmetic/aesthetic form of teeth alignment treatment available today. In this mode of treatment, firstly a 3D digital scan of your teeth is done. Then your Invisalign certified orthodontist plans your treatment using the customized treatment planning software. After the treatment has been planned, the final treatment simulation and outcome is shown to the patient, even before the patient agrees to the treatment.

On approval, our orthodontist approves the treatment plan, and transparent incremental trays are used for correction of misaligned teeth in both adults and children.

These trays are changed every 12-14 days till the treatment is over.

Metal Braces Treatment

Metallic braces can be either self-ligating and non-SL braces. SL braces are smaller in size, require fewer appointments and reduce treatment time/duration considerably as compared to conventional braces.

Highly recommended for children and young adults. Treatment cost is much lower as compared to other braces.

Tooth Colored Braces

In this system, gold or titanium braces are placed behind / inner side of the tooth surface. These are completely invisible made of gold/titanium making them completely inert / anti-allergic.

CAD-CAM / 3D digital printing of customized patient-specific brackets enables optimum fit and helps in reducing treatment time.

Fewer patient visits.
